Pre Flop Mistakes

Mistakes may be how you win at poker but not your mistakes, your opponents mistakes. It is easy to build your stack when you’re getting good cards, the trick is keeping it. Avoiding these pre-flop mistakes and it will be your opponents who do the  losing.

Poor Start Card Selection – This is the mistake that most make. Quite simply only play the hands in the table on Pre-Flop Play . Straying from this and you are destined to continuously lose. It takes patience and discipline but that’s the difference between a good poker player and bad poker player.

Slow-Playing- Trying to build the pot with slow play shouldn’t be done on at the pre-flop stage. Slow-play should only be done after the flop when you know your hand can’t be beaten. By slow playing early you are giving other opponents the chance to stay in cheaply and hitting their hand which might be bigger than yours.

Not Paying Attention to your Opponents – Every action your opponents make will tell you something. If they are raising they usually have a good hand, checking id they have a weak hand and check-raising when they are trying to deceive. If a slow player takes an age then to raise they are trying to trick you into thinking they have a weaker hand than they have. Paying attention to what they are doing and act accordingly.

Playing Hands Out of Position - If you play some hands out of position then your just lining yourself up to get into serious trouble in the following rounds. Again its patience and self discipline but position really is relevant.

Late Table Position Not Being Used to its Full Advantage - Last to act puts you in such strong position. You can see what everyone else has done and you can play hands you wouldn’t normally play in other positions. You can steal the blinds and it’s the best position to increase the pot by raising. Take advantage of being in late position.
