The Love of the Big Slick

More often found in lower limits holdem but also be found in middle and higher limits are players who fall in love with the Big Slick and often regardless if they are suited or not . Ace King may look very pretty but in reality it is only a drawing hand. It needs to hit to improve. Many players will play the big slick as if it were a pair of aces or kings. They might play the hand unknowingly playing against pocket aces or kings, and then they might hit two pair only to discover they are up against a set. They think they are onto a winner but they actually were drawing dead. Then they get mouthy in the chat box saying the opponent got lucky. In actual fact they don’t realise that their big slick was significantly the under dog prior to the flop and even more so after the flop.

So don’t fall into the same trap. Don’t fall in love with the big slick, remember it is just a drawing hand and needs to improve and continue to improve to make it playable.
